Port Elizabeth – Events
David Walters and Friends: Legacy is an exhibition that commemorates the life of the late Professor Juliet Armstrong as well as at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Centre for Visual Art, where she worked for over thirty years. The exhibition includes works from past and current lecturers and alumni and represents the create legacy that are the legacy of the UKZN ceramic studios.
A passage through time, moving places or spaces, adapting, changing, metamorphosing, these themes as they relate to the idea of a journey will be expressed in selected works from the Art Museum’s Permanent Collection.
The Glow Run
Glow Run is a 5km fun run/walk/dance/party glowing with lights, bringing the night alive with music, glow in the dark paint and lots of fun. Thousands of revellers light up the streets with their outrageous costumes, fluorescent clothing, or anything that will add to the brightness and vibe of the event. After running/walking/dancing the 5km event, revellers will enter the Glow Arena and become part of the glow festival of light, paint, music and dance until late. Glow Kids happens on Friday 11th April and Glow Run (for those aged 18 and older only) on Saturday 12th April 2014.
Since its inception 24 years ago, the Splash Festival has grown from strength to strength. This year will be no different, as the organisers have promised that they will take it to another level. More interesting and exciting additions to the three-day Splash Festival programme have been included (admittedly, last year, late planning and poor weather presented challenges that negatively contributed to its success.
Annual Oxbraai @ The German Club
The first German annual Easter Ox Braai at the German Club in Lorraine
For 45 years we have brought our annual Oktoberfest to Port Elizabeth. This year we would like to introduce the Easter Ox Braai to Port Elizabeth and surrounding areas
This family day will start at 10am on the 20th April and end at 10pm. There will be a variety of entertainment for the kids and live music for the older crowd.
There will be a whole ox on the spit as you would get at a southern German summer fair to be served with potatoes, onions and Bavarian cabbage salad.
This will be served from 11:00 to 21:00.
Spirit of Place
The Alliance Française Port Elizabeth is hosting a photographic exhibition by architectural photographer Wianélle Briers. The exhibition will feature work from her book published in 2013 – “Spirit of Place”.
This form of abstract architectural photography heightens one’s experience and understanding of the buildings by making apparent the intentions of each architect. The essence of the architecture is revealed through highlighting detailed fragments that might otherwise have gone unnoticed.
2014 Investec Night Relay
A team-based event which involves teams of 5 runners or teams of 3 walkers who compete in a relay format around a 5km route with each participant completing one lap around the Stadium precinct.

South Africa vs Scotland Rugby Test
South Africa will be playing Scotland in a once off Rugby test at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on the 28th of June 2014. Tickets will be available at Computicket.
Skaapkop Lang Tafel Banket
Sheephead Long Table Banquet(Skaapkop Lang Tafel Banket) as part of the ABSA Wildlife Kirkwood Festival will host a traditional banquet on Sunday, 29 June 2014 commencing at 11h00 at R150 p/p. The menu will include homemade bread and a variety of wines which will be served with the sheep's head. This event will be filmed and a visiting TV celebrity will make a special appearance ... so do not miss out on this popular event. Bookings essential as the organizers will sell tickets to improve a world record sheep's head with at least 438 persons.
